                   Evan and Jaron

This may not be the first brother duo in music, but hands down, they'd take the crown on looking the most alike. Don't blame it on a copycat-style -- it's genetic. Meet 26-year old twins, Evan and Jaron. That is, if you haven't already. The Atlanta-born and based Evan and Jaron Lowenstein renewed the fading pop-rock genre with the chart-topping hit, "Crazy for This Girl," late last year. Their follow up single, "From My Head to My Heart," has proven that the lookalikes are no one-hit wonders.

It may seem like the boys have dropped in from "Outerspace," but assuming that would be your initial mistake. Even before Columbia Records picked up on the sounds of their classy acoustic guitars, Evan and Jaron had already released a few records, including "We've Never Heard of You Either," on their independent record label in 1998. The latter title is considerably a complete 180 to their current spotlighted careers.

We've heard of them, and liked what we heard, which is why we spoke with half of the duo, Evan, for a quick chat exclusively for gt magazine.

gt.com: it's obvious you guys aren't a boy band, yet in recent interviews, the comparisons fly. does it annoy you to be stuck in that category?

EVAN: No, not at all -- everyone makes mistakes, we don't take it personally!

gt.com: from twin-to-twin -- do you guys always agree on how your career should go? with that...what is the most annoying "twin question" you get asked? (ours is the classic "have you ever switched classes?")

EVAN: We pretty much agree on all our decisions. Whoever is more passionate about their point of view wins. Yeah, the switched classes thing is bad, huh? How about, "Can you feel each other's pain?"

gt.com: yeah, that one is pretty painful! now, you guys are no flash-in-the-pan. you've actually been working on albums for nearly ten years. tell me about that?

EVAN: Not much to say, other than we've been working our butts off doing what we love -- making music. What else could we ask for? We didn't wait for a big record company to come and help us out. We put our first two records out on our own record company. We really have always felt that this is what we wanted to do, and therefore have not let anything get in the way.

gt.com: what do you think about the whole issue of Napster? does it bother you that people download some of your songs?

EVAN: I think the concept of Napster is brilliant. I respect and understand both sides.

gt.com: have you ever used Napster?

EVAN: I have actually never used Napster, because I can't stand sites that make you "sign up" before you can use their stuff. I'm too lazy to take the time!

gt.com: gotta ask...are you addicted to the reality show Survivor? if you were a castaway, what would be your one luxury item to bring on the island?

EVAN: I never watch TV, unless there's something really important like the final game of the World Series, or an old re-run of Welcome Back Kotter or something like that. I have never seen Survivor or Temptation whatever. If I were a castaway, I would like to have my cell phone, and more importantly, good cell service!
