I have always been a tad timid. Being a twin,
from childhood on you learn to share everything: toys, clothes, secrets, and...the
spotlight. So, I am the less outgoing of our doublet. However, this has taught me to be an
excellent observer (and a little more studious...shh!) While Christina tends to
be more of a dreamer, I am slightly more of a realist -- which is why our twindom works so
well. Although, I could do without the sleazily-raised eyebrows when we enter a room...
When Christina and I started GT, we never knew the amazing
opportunities that would unfold by the imaginations and ambitions of two tween girls.
Those opportunities led me to narrow down my future career options to just one: I want to
write. Everything. Novels, articles, advertising copy, letters -- it doesn't matter what,
I just want to spend the rest of my life expressing myself through words. Which is why I
love the subway; who knew an hour-long commute could be so inspiring? I am well on my way
to finishing the novel I am co-writing with my other half.
Here is my life/personality/likes in a nutshell: I have a tiny crush on
Patrick Dempsey; I think Kathy Griffin is the funniest person on earth; I often lose in
games of Scrabble against my little-sister-by-one-minute; my ideal activity is sleeping; I
hope Jewel never stops touring; Kelly Clarkson's CDs are often in my car stereo; I love my
mp3 player; I'm sensitive, stubborn, and competitive; and I am super-into fashion, but
prefer a good bargain over a Gucci.
When we started myGTmagazine, it was an outlet
for us during those tough teenage years. Now, I hope it is yours. And, to end with a
little advice: dream big. Because there is no telling where you can go. As Maya Angelou
said: "A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a
song."
Sincerely,
