Angela Via's debut single could be used to describe the beginning of her rising career: "picture perfect." Fresh off of the All That Music & More Tour, the eighteen-year-old, Texas-born, superstar-in-the-making didn't just "pop" into the scene from nowhere -- or the Mickey Mouse Club, for that matter. While most seniors are pondering about prom details and waiting for caps-n-gowns, Via is performing at sold-out venues for thousands of her peers.

gt magazine caught up with the Latin diva to get the dish on her promising start and of whom the single is really picture perfect for...

gt.com: tell us about your first single, "Picture Perfect." based on anyone specific?

ANGELA: The song is really fun -- it was inspired by a guy who I was friends with for a long time...later on, I started to think that he was really cute, and I sorta fell for him. So, I wrote that song. I really never had the guts to go up and tell him my feelings...I just wrote a song about [those feelings] instead!

gt.com: did he ever find out the single was about him?

ANGELA: He actually just found out! I did a special on TV and he was on there, and I surprised him. He was totally stuttering...it was the funniest thing!

gt.com: we hear you compose a lot of your own lyrics. where does your inspiration for songs, like "Picture Perfect," come from?

ANGELA: I get inspired from everything -- from a relationship or friendship to a movie that I saw. I really did write a ballad about a movie that I saw! Also, just experiences that my friends go through. I see things happening -- a guy breaking up with a girl. It's like, "Aww...I'm feeling for her!" So, I write a song about it. It can hit me anywhere...in the car, in the airplane, and I'll just have to write it down or leave it on my voicemail!

gt.com: so, you think that sets you apart from, let's say, Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera?

ANGELA: I guess so! For me, it's always something that's been there. I've always liked to write, along with singing, and I'm also artsy. I think it's something that comes naturally -- I'm lucky that I have that knowledge and desire to do that.

gt.com: how has your family responded to all of this?

ANGELA: They think it's really cool -- every time I go home, there's always another bunch of autographs my mom wants me to sign for people she met. It's so great they're supportive of me. Even my brother -- he's with me when I tour. It's cool, because I have company, and we get to hang out more!

gt.com: has anyone changed around you because of your fame?

ANGELA: I have to admit that some people at school have changed the way that they act around me. I try to come back and be my same self, but it's hard, because some people don't know how to react around you. My closest friends have been cool with everything, though!

gt.com: what advice would you give to young, aspiring singers in the recording industry?

ANGELA: I would say to really put your heart into it, and don't let yourself get caught up in the bad places in the business. It can be tough sometimes and there are traps that people can get themselves into when trying to make it. Get really good people backing you up -- get your family involved or someone who's really knowledgeable about the business.

gt.com: any final messages to your fans?

ANGELA: I just wanted to say thank you, and that I love you guys! I'm doing this for you!
